The Story Behind Kingston Wildlife Works

he Story Behind Kingston Wildlife Works

Honoring Conway’s Traditions Through Craftsmanship

Kingston Wildlife Works isn’t just a taxidermy studio — it’s a reflection of Conway, South Carolina, and the traditions that shaped me.

As a Conway native, I grew up surrounded by the Waccamaw River, hardwood swamps, and the kind of small-town values that still matter. Hunting and fishing weren’t hobbies — they were part of life. They were about family, patience, respect for wildlife, and preserving memories.

That mindset is at the heart of everything I do at Kingston Wildlife Works.

Rooted in Conway, SC

Conway has always had a unique character — historic streets, riverfront mornings, and a tight-knit community that takes pride in its heritage. I’ve always believed a local business should reflect the spirit of the place it calls home.

At Kingston Wildlife Works, I strive to honor:

  • The history of Horry County hunters

  • The traditions passed down through generations

  • The small-town craftsmanship Conway is known for

When you bring a whitetail, bear, or waterfowl mount to my shop, you’re not dropping it off at a production facility — you’re trusting a fellow local who understands exactly what that hunt meant to you.

From Outdoor Photographer to Taxidermist

Before starting Kingston Wildlife Works, I built my creative foundation as an outdoors, hunting, and fishing photographer.

Photography taught me how to:

  • Study animal anatomy and natural posture

  • Understand lighting, depth, and realism

  • Capture authentic outdoor moments

Spending years behind the lens sharpened my eye for detail. Whether I was photographing a whitetail at golden hour or documenting a morning duck hunt, I learned how small nuances create powerful, lasting images.

Today, that same artistic perspective carries into my taxidermy work. Every mount is composed with intention — from head angle to muscle definition to expression. My goal isn’t just to preserve an animal, but to recreate the moment you remember.

Craft Over Quantity

In a world of rushed production and quick turnaround promises, I focus on craftsmanship. Each mount receives personal attention — from careful hide preparation and tanning coordination to detailed clay work and finish painting.

Quality takes time because quality lasts.

Whether it’s:

  • A mature South Carolina whitetail

  • A Lowcountry black bear

  • A vibrant wood duck from the Waccamaw

I approach each project with respect for both the animal and the hunter.

A Business Built on Community

Kingston Wildlife Works is proud to serve Conway and the surrounding Horry and Georgetown County areas. Many of my clients aren’t just customers — they’re neighbors, fellow hunters, and friends.

That small-town connection matters to me.

I don’t just want to mount your trophy. I want it to be something you’re proud to hang in your home for decades — something that tells a story about where you’re from and the traditions you carry forward.

Preserving More Than a Mount

At the end of the day, taxidermy isn’t just about preserving wildlife. It’s about preserving:

  • The early mornings in the stand

  • The quiet moments on the river

  • The stories shared after the hunt

Kingston Wildlife Works exists to honor those memories — with craftsmanship rooted in Conway’s history and guided by an artist’s eye.

If you're looking for a local taxidermist in Conway, SC who understands both the outdoors and the art behind preserving it, I’d be honored to work with you.
